HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE
Our Origin and Journey
The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) in the Kasaragod Vicariate has a storied legacy spanning several decades. Rooted in the broader vision of the ICYM Mangalore Diocese, the Kasaragod chapter was established to address the unique needs and aspirations of the youth in this culturally vibrant northern Kerala region.
Starting with just a few dedicated parishes, the movement rapidly expanded as young people found an authentic platform to voice their ideas, nurture their God-given talents, and deepen their Christian faith. Through the years, ICYM Kasaragod has been instrumental in organizing major socio-cultural events, Lenten Cross Walks, multi-ward tournaments, blood donation drives, and environmental initiatives.
Today, encompassing 15 vibrant parish units, the vicariate stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of youth leadership. The recent launch of the ‘Green Mission’ project—tracking over 77% sapling survival—and the continued success of hallmark conventions like ‘Radiant 2026’ showcase an organization that honors its heritage while boldly charting new paths forward.
